Hawaii Island




Hawaii is a state of the United States. Hawaii was discovered by James Cook, a British explorer on January 10, 1778. The native Hawaiian islands are the Polynesian tribes. King Kamehameha I who was born in 1758, is a great king who had dominion over the Hawaiian Islands about 1810. Kamehameha dynasty was continued by his descendants until Kamehameha V, who died on December 11, 1872, which is the last successor of Kamehameha dynasty.


History of Hawaii's leadership is still continued by some big names such as the Kamehameha family relatives Lunalilo, Kalakaua, Liliuokalani, until at last entered the United States set a colony in 1900, and ratified as a state of the United States to-50, on 21 August 1959.


At the congress of 1993, President Clinton had to apologize to all ethnic groups of Hawaii, Hawaii on the destruction of the royal dynasty. Hawaii is one of the island's top tourist attractions in the world, the potential for marine tourism and the natural beauty of "super nice" makes Hawaii renowned throughout the corners of the world.


Other famous personalities from Hawaii was Duke Kahanamoku, who was the inventor of sports surfing.


Geography

Kauai is a volcanic origin, the island has been formed by part of the Pacific plate over the Hawaiian hotspot. In about six million years, it is the oldest of the main island. The highest peak on the island mountains Kawaikini at 5243 feet (1598 m) [7]. The second highest peak is Mount Waialeale near the center of the island, 5148 feet (1569 m) above sea level.


One of the wettest places in the world, with annual rainfall average of 460 inches (1,200 cm), located on the east side of Mount Waialeale. High annual rainfall has eroded valleys in the central mountains, carving canyons with many beautiful waterfalls. On the west side of the island, Waimea town lies at the mouth of Waimea River, which forms the flow of Waimea Canyon, one of the most beautiful canyons in the world, and that is part of the Waimea Canyon State Park.



At 3,000 feet (914 m) deep, Waimea Canyon is often referred to as the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific". Na Pali Coast is a recreation center in wild settings, including kayaking past the beach, or hiking trails along coastal cliffs.



History



During the reign of King Kamehameha, the island of Kauai and Niihau were the last Hawaiian Islands to join his Kingdom Hawaii.Penguasa them, Kaumualii, refused to Kamehameha for years. King Kamehameha twice prepared a large fleet of ships and boats to take the islands by force and failed twice, once because of the storm, and once because of the epidemic.


In the face of the threat of further invasion, however, Kaumualii decided to join the kingdom without bloodshed, and became followers of Kamehameha in 1810, gave the island to the Kingdom of Hawaii after his death in 1824.



In 1815-17, Kaumualii led the secret negotiations with representatives of the Russian-American Company in an effort to get Russia's military support against Kamehameha, but negotiations folded and Russia was forced to abandon all their presence on Kauai, including Fort Elizabeth, after it was revealed that they did not have support of Tsar Alexander I.
In 1835 the Old Town Koloa sugar mill opened. Missionaries also came in the 19th century.
